I?m supposed to have a class in Fort Collins this week at CSU. It?s something new they are wanting to do and they are wanting some people experienced in the subject matter to tell them what they think of the course.

I?m kind of known for not pulling any punches so hopefully they do a good job.

I often add tags to threads so it was implied. ;-)

I also saw those & considered adding my own before the thread closed but decided those two were just perfect. I was making effort to not be more unkind.

Not exactly the welcoming reputation of this forum. Bit of a pickle really. Im as surprised as anyone, that someone could actually annoy me to the point of extracting genuine insults. I don't usually do that.

Based on past history, seemed like the latest thread was almost a taunt. "Hey, whatever thoughtful responses you folks gave based on your life experiences? Screw that, I'm going my own way, and I'm going to not keep it to myself."

I don't think you rallied "a consensus" at all. Reviewing it, quite a few people posted inferring that it was out of line, but didn't want to be too verbose for fear of getting shit on too. I didn't see the thread until much later. Rest assured, I would have called you out. When a site permits people to shit on new users/dumb questions/differing opinions/etc., it quickly becomes untenable and toxic.

Sometimes I have found find myself arguing other positions just to remind people this isn't a church, with official doctrine and a holy book. Try to push away anything that is different, and you might as well be a dying "church" of the same aging dozen friends, singing the same repetitive incantations with every post, and pushing away everyone that isn't in the good-ol-boy clique until the doors are boarded shut. Some people might want that, I suppose... plenty of firearm sites turn into that.

There's a massive difference between arguing with an old classmate from the 2nd grade, and dog piling and kicking the shit out of a the new kid that just moved in from out of state. The latter transfers schools.

The guy wanted to stay in compliance with the law. Which... when I read the T&C, this site doesn't condone any discussion of lawbreaking in the first place. It's his inanimate chattel, who cares what he does with it.
Why that pisses anybody off is beyond me. It's not a two sided ethics argument (e.g. declawing cats). Nor is it legal to import hi-caps into Colorado.
