We should treat this like we do school shootings. As long as no one we know has been killed, then pretend it isn't a problem and doesn't exist. March around reminding everyone how it's not statistically significant, and how they're more likely to die in a car wreck. Even amount of old people who haven't died in a nursing home from Corona vs those who have, the number isn't significant and we should tell the elderly that they should be glad to know how safe they actually are at their nursing homes.

Did I make you butt-hurt about the truth or something?

Life is risky. We mitigate risk where we can, but some level of risk, including the risk of death, is acceptable to us humans. It's in our nature.

Sounds like we should work on expanding the authority of the TSA.

If we trust them to keep us safe when we travel then maybe we could trust them to keep us safe everywhere.

No, I'm tired of that piss poor argument. It's okay to not care about something. I mean that should be the default since most things don't effect everyone. It's annoying to tell other people what they should or shouldn't care about it. It's not about you, it's about dumb shit arguments that propogate all over the internet and people just spout them off as talking points. It's the same as when people try to jump into conversations about legalizing things with, "just tax the heck out of it and make it legal!"

In either case, I understand why that point of view exists. For school shootings, going after guns is easy and people are concerned about their 2A rights, so they down play the issue. With Corona, people panicking and shutting down everything seems immediate and dramatic, but it hurts the economy probably more than it has to be hurt and that damages everyone, in an immediate and dramatic fashion.

In the case of Corona though, saying a number of deaths is not statistically significant is silly because as more people get infected, the number might go up until it is no longer insignificant. Hopefully it doesn't pan out that way though. I'm really rooting for the possibility that this showed up here months earlier and half the population has already burned through it. We'll see though. I'm pretty concerned about the economy right now.

    ...and your answer is?

If you've lived long enough, you've seen shit like this come and go. The MSM and politicians fanning the flames is not helping...and that's frakking intentional!

You mean what do I think people or businesses should do, be doing? For the record, I wasn't disagreeing with your sentiment that this might be overblown. I don't really know enough about this to make an opinion that's worth anything.
