All the comparisons to "H1N1", car accidents and flu deaths are "piss poor" as well.
It's more like standing a few blocks outside of the Las Vegas shooting while it's actively happening, standing on a box shouting:
It's a novel virus that really kills elderly people. Just like people giving an active shooting a wide berth; their statistical risk doesn't mean their actions are unwise.Pfft only 2 people died, it's nothing like Sandy Hook...
Pfft only 8 people died, it's nothing like the Theater shooting...
Pfft only 18 people died, more people died from suicides today...
Pfft you idiots should stop running, he aint' going anywhere...
Pfft only 24 people died, more people died from cars today...
Pfft only 48 people got shot, more people died from cancer...
Pfft only 300 people got trampled, more people died from Flu...
(so on, so forth)
All the pundits do not have a crystal ball in the middle of any event. In this case, our medical capacity is quite limited. If too many people get sick at one time, then those critical cases (~10% of infections) will overwhelm the hospital system and a lot of people who were not in any risk of life will die.
Italian doctors, for instance, are having to make choices like removing intubation from 40 year olds in favor of 30 year olds. And only a fraction of the population is infected presently. The reality is our healthcare system is ill prepared for any tiny influx of cases of any kind. Even a 10% increase in normal hospitalizations can cause those kind of issues. Come fall and winter, those decisions might reach insanity (e.g. triage: Only save under 30). You guys can pull death stats for cancer all you want, but people don't suddenly all come into the ER and fill the beds, hallways, and tents with cancer or car accidents and share their cancer and accidents with doctors.
The statistical comparisons are outrageous and show many people here to have logical patterns that are no better, sometimes worse, than a typical progressive liberal fuckbag.

You know what would be cool? Having a thread for discussing coronavirus.
Liberals never met a slippery slope they didn't grease.

Yes
Howdy, hos.
Anybody got anything fun planned for the weekend?

Working on cars and avoiding talk about Corona Virus, although you couldn't tell I'm avoiding it by how often it comes up. Lots of parts being delivered in the next week or two. And a pre-teen that is out of school that gets to help me, whether she wants to or not.

Probably just do my usual.
Try to get in a couple of rounds of disc golf, maybe get with my wife and continue shopping for a new vehicle, try and go get some groceries, probably lunch and drinks at Old Chicago tomorrow afternoon, etc.
Still have a bathroom remodel project that I?ve been dragging out for too long so I?m taking next week off to focus on finishing that up.
Would love to squeeze in a trip to the range but that likely won?t happen.
Was going to a concert at the Pepsi Center but that got canceled.
Won?t be watching any hockey on tv either I guess.
Surprise, I've a couple different precision rifle matches this weekend.
Going to fly in a little plane to a little airport, to visit a friend next week.
