A strange sounding storm is rolling through. Those out East might be in for a wild ride tonight. Or maybe not. I'm no meteorologist.

Sounded good from a distance, fizzled before it got here.

My favorite tree cutting crew came to remove more spruce and fir trees in a fire mitigation effort for my neighbor. They gifted me a cord or so of firewood logs. I had them chip slash and haul it to the county forestry sort yard where it's burned or composted. I take advantage of the free and excellent composted wood duff for landscaping. It's all an ongoing effort to take out mature conifers near the houses where aspens will re grow and make the properties safer from catastrophic forest fire.

Also mixed three batches of concrete for foundation repair. It's a start on a bigger project. I could use a strong young person to help with various tasks. There's a job here for someone who has open days to earn extra income. In any case I'm moving forward and will get it done.

My grandfather once said that a man's house should never be finished.

Ha! You understand. Family obligations that tie us. Grand parents to children to grand children, uncles, aunts, cousins, wives....

Family ties us to the homestead and homestead ties us to family. Maybe we're just lucky.

I crashed for my usual 6. Then my back started waking me up. GSD jumping on my head finished the job.
