Packing to move sucks ass. And packing materials are expensive. Spent almost $200 for f'n TV boxes alone, and didn't even get boxes for the smaller ones. (Although I admit that I have a TV problem)

Lookee what emerged from the snow in our mountain meadow today! The first two of seven plants are volunteers transplanted last year to a semi-circular array of rhubarb at the edge of the flower meadow. We spread a lot of seeds last year so might have more volunteers this year. Free food that the moose and deer aren't interested in.

It was a busy day on the Palisade farm as the wind finally calmed enough to burn weeds along the irrigation canal and lateral ditch. Also burned a 70 cubic yard pile of tumbleweed and slash prunings from the wildlife shelter belt. It's an annual chore and I'm about half done. Thirty years of doing this and never had a fire get out of control. Colorado River water will begin flowing in the irrigation canal (behind the burn area) on Monday.

This afternoon I had the pleasure of finally meeting forum member Foxtart at a gathering of mutual friends. Foxtart is one of the developers of this and other firearms forums. He's a very talented guy in multiple fields. I met Mrs. Foxtart several years ago when they operated a gun store in GJ. Later, I happened to meet his father when looking for Western Screech-Owls in a nearby park. Small world in a very big world.

It was great to get together and I look forward to meeting again. A trip to the Cameo shooting range is in order.

Plenty of stuff to burn on this property, but I'm scared to death of starting the whole valley on fire. Some of the winds down here are predictable, but also known for strong gusts to just come out of nowhere at any given time.

I don't think I have enough bandwidth to run all the ring cams I have, thought about trying some trail cams out. Then again, four years now and we've never seen anyone doing creepy shit out here....I think they know better.

Found out I'm getting new neighbors across the road from me, discussion with the realtor/builder indicated the couple is mid/late 50's strong conservative gun owners and avid hunters as well. Might be nine months to a year before the project is completed, however, it's kinda nice to know they aren't flaming libtards. Might have a new buddy...
