Dump 40yds of sand back there. You'll have playground, kitty sandbox and great drainage when it rains out.

HOA says that sand or dirt is not considered a landscape, and they are withholding $3k until my landscape is finished and approved.

I have been trying to find out what made that cat look like that ever since I found the pic. I have no clue but it sure has the cat shook up.
HOA suck but they seem hard to avoid if you are looking for a particular type of home. I was surprised how rampant they were in CO when I moved here...
