    Honeybadger, I have a solution for your landscaping. It's far less expensive than sod, requires little maintenance and looks charming. The bonus is that if/when you or Mrs. Honeybadger get tired of the flowers and plants, it's easily changed out.

    Our front yard looked like the moon last year, because we get the full force of the sun. Our neighbor is one of those rare people that has a zen manner of landscapery about him; he placed wandering paths made from flagstone over the most drought-stricken areas of our yard; some mulch in others, and placed flowerpots both above and below ground (depending on their level of attractiveness) fpr shots of color and bloom. It cuts down on watering, looks both unique and attractive, and doesn't take the constant maintenance that a lawn demands.

    Thanks for the advice! This is basically what we are doing with our front yard (full sun exposure). The back yard will be mostly grass, but we'll have built in sprinklers and a few decent sized trees to provide a little shade.
