So I have been reading rave reviews of the small Kel Tec pistols. Well I bought a P11 kel tec about week or two ago, it’s for my dad for fathers day actually. I have been carrying it since the day I got it because my pistol is at the smith. Well let me tell you, I honestly think I'm going buy one for myself now.
I bought it and 50 rounds of cheap ammo and box of 20 hydra shok's I put 3 rounds of the ball ammo through it the day I bought it to see how it was.
I brought it home and polished and squared the trigger bar it was a little wavey. Polished the hammer, and few other places like feed ramp and such and anything else I found on KTOG. I want to make sure its 100% before giving it to my dad, he isn’t super mechanically inclined to do any work so I figure I would do all I could before I give it to him.
Anyway, I took it to the range today to see how it shoots after the work and put the rest of the 47 cheap ball rounds through it. The trigger is smoother, but still a little heavy to me, but it’s a defensive gun not a range gun so I guess its good. What got me is how accurate it is for as small as it is. at 10-15 yards I put a full mag in about a 2x2 inch square eh maybe little more, if you fold a dollar bill in half it would cover all 10 holes and 6 was touching.
All in all I can't say how much I like this little gun, and it has less recoil than my Beretta 96 which supprised me. I thought it was going to do a number on my hands, but it wasn't that bad at all. I think with a slip on rubber grip and a mag extension it wouldnt be that bad at all to shoot on a regular basis.
If anyone has any doubts about these little pistols they are nice for the cost, and actually not bad accuracy wise. I would give them a thumbs up, and I seriously doubt you will find another NIB pistol to compare to it for under 250 dollars.
