Default kel tec at the range

So I have been reading rave reviews of the small Kel Tec pistols. Well I bought a P11 kel tec about week or two ago, it’s for my dad for fathers day actually. I have been carrying it since the day I got it because my pistol is at the smith. Well let me tell you, I honestly think I'm going buy one for myself now.
I bought it and 50 rounds of cheap ammo and box of 20 hydra shok's I put 3 rounds of the ball ammo through it the day I bought it to see how it was.

I brought it home and polished and squared the trigger bar it was a little wavey. Polished the hammer, and few other places like feed ramp and such and anything else I found on KTOG. I want to make sure its 100% before giving it to my dad, he isn’t super mechanically inclined to do any work so I figure I would do all I could before I give it to him.

Anyway, I took it to the range today to see how it shoots after the work and put the rest of the 47 cheap ball rounds through it. The trigger is smoother, but still a little heavy to me, but it’s a defensive gun not a range gun so I guess its good. What got me is how accurate it is for as small as it is. at 10-15 yards I put a full mag in about a 2x2 inch square eh maybe little more, if you fold a dollar bill in half it would cover all 10 holes and 6 was touching.
All in all I can't say how much I like this little gun, and it has less recoil than my Beretta 96 which supprised me. I thought it was going to do a number on my hands, but it wasn't that bad at all. I think with a slip on rubber grip and a mag extension it wouldnt be that bad at all to shoot on a regular basis.

If anyone has any doubts about these little pistols they are nice for the cost, and actually not bad accuracy wise. I would give them a thumbs up, and I seriously doubt you will find another NIB pistol to compare to it for under 250 dollars.

You're a good son, getting your dad a gun for father's day. I took the wifey to the gun store to show her which guns I want, and dropped the hint to the kids. I just don't think they'll be getting me one though. lol

i was actually goin to get him a 1911 but my brother and i talked and decided we will get him a 1911 either for his birthday or more likely xmas thats an expensive gun so my brother and I are goin in halves on a nice 1911 for him.
we are lookin at loaded kimber's and wilson's and some springfields.

my dad loves 1911's yet he has never owned one, he has shot them, and has always wanted one, but he is the type that dont like to buy real expensive guns.
so i cant wait to see the look on his face when he gets a 1911, we could probably get him the base model springfield and he would be happy as a pig in shit. i will be sure to post pictures when he gets the 1911!! and i will post pics of the 1911 on here when we decide which one we go with.

You got to get this for him if he plans on carrying it in his front pocket. I have a Kel Tec P-3AT and it's a sweet little carry gun but, After awhile it shows up like a can of chew in your pocket. And when you try to get it out of your pocket sometimes it's upside down or barrel up and you don't want to be fumbling around with it in a pinch. Great gift though for Fathers Day I think he'll love it.

Oh yeah! Sorry about that I didn't post it. It's called the pocket holdster made by Galco. You can find it on the Kel Tec Site under Accessories / Holdsters for about $48.00 but it's worth it. The belt clip work good also.

I'd agree with Wallery. The pocket holster is the way to go. Slides right into your pocket and there are no more worries. Great for when it isn't 'PC' to carry.

I never liked the belt clip idea. Conisdering that it will probably resize over time like a knife with a belt clip does. But my brother loves the belt clip on his p32 for around the house when he is wearing shorts or some other type of clothing without pockets.

But a very nice fathers day present. He will enjoy it I'm sure.
