    Thread Resurrection!!

I had never been to this range before yesterday and stopped in to try out some of my new toys. The folks behind the counter were very nice and I got onto the range quick. The range was clean (as it can be), the range officers seemed pretty lax. Didn't mind the double tap or rapid fire. When I was finished up and went upstairs to pay the counterpeople were once again very friendly and stayed and talked a while with one of the guys. I will definitely be going back there to shoot many more times as it is closer to me than anything else (until prarie arms gets their range up), and it was a great experience.

    Default I like them

It's the closest range to me and they don't have anybody breathing down your neck. Both the range and sales staff have been friendly and not pushy to me.

And they allow full auto. "As long as you can keep it off the walls and ceiling I don't care," was what they told me when I asked.

I was in there the other day (lack of time so couldn't go to the private range). I was on lane 1 (far right lane) and got hit with shrapnel 4-5 times!!! Not sure if it was an idiot/bad shot hitting the "frame" for hanging targets or what. Thank God for eye protection!

There's one young guy there who is very helpful and nice. The owner is a bit of a prick and his wife is pretty rude and stupid.

That being said, I've purchased 3 guns from them in the past year because they have the only good prices around. I've only purchased them from previously mentioned guy. I ordered a CZ through him and when it came in, I had to deal with the owner and his wife.

I told the lady that I was there to pick up a gun, my name, etc. She went and got it out of the safe and put it on the desk. Then some old, wannabe military guy stormed in and was very pushy in wanting the gun that he ordered. So she completely left me out to dry and started dealing with him. He took for-fucking-ever to fill out his BATFE form on their laptop while I sat there, waiting. When he finally finished it was my turn again. There was a very long line that night, and the dude had somehow spelled his own name wrong. He made a big fuss and called his wife while at the counter and very loudly complained how he was going to be late for dinner. Meanwhile my application had been processed and still I was waiting while she tended to this jerk. Eventually he left after they processed his shit again and FINALLY could finish with me.

They cashed me out and everything, and I had previously mentioned I wanted to use my range time then and there, and the wife said since I already paid and had to wait so long I could have a reasonable number of targets and shoot for free.

I went and shot, used 5 $0.50 targets and brought my ticket up. The owner took the ticket, saw the number of targets, and hemmed and hawwed about my $2.50 in targets (after spending $600 on a gun) until he rolled his eyes and said fine.

I hadn't been in there since (about 6 months ago) until a friend wanted to shoot there, afterwards they had a M&P9 with threaded barrel for a good price and the nice guy was working there with none of the jerks in sight. I ended up buying the gun, regretfully, but I had a positive customer service experience and they had a better price than online.

The range is pretty meh, semi-black boogers, but the lighting is decent and the target holders work. I think Firing Line's is much better.

The people at the shootist crack me up. Nice enough now that I'm fairly regular there, but definatly kinda weird. The ventilation there is horrible but its where I shoot the most

I have not been there in the last 3 years but the few times I had been there they were decent and treated my then 12 yo very well.
They were decent enough to let me put a few rounds down a Springfield that was on consignment and even called the owner to let me speak with him.
Dark and dingy but had a good experience every time we went.

Just curious here, but what kind of gun was that? I've found their prices to be higher than pretty much everywhere but Gander Mountain. They seem to charge new prices for used guns from what I've seen!

I agree about the younger guy, he seems pretty nice and knowledgeable but the others, um yeah...

I bought a new XDm9 for $500 right when they came out. A CZ-75B SA for $525 and just got an M&P9 with threaded barrel for $590.

The M&P is about $10-20 more than on the Internet, but I could have it immediately and with transfer I'd pay about the same.

i went to the shootist for the first time for the live fire qual for my CCW class decent prices but the store smelled horrible of that raunchy used diaper smell that is unbearable to be around. the range was busy and there was some drama about people not getting the full hour ventilation is horrible. people are nice but gun safety was scary. a guy brought in a mini 14 to sell and the person behind the counter grabbed it and flashed the muzzle across our ccw class then proceeded to remove the full magazine.
