Default Savage .22 Package Deal $150 NEW?!?

I was at Dick's Sporting Goods today and saw a NEW package deal on a Savage MarkII or something like that. I'm new to savages and wish I could relay the entire proper name. It was a bolt action, wooden stock, blued action and bbl. Came with a simmons scope on it and it was pre-accutrigger and had a 10rnd magazine. It was on sale obviously and all for $150. Would these be a good buy for casual shooting and a plain ol' fun time? Or should I look around and wait to spend a little more $ and get a newer model or a different gun? Thanks.

    if you don't have a .22lr, save and get a ruger 10/22.

thats my .22 cents worth

I don't know anything about the savage.

I do know about and own a 10/22.

the 10/22 has proven itself for many years
there are plenty of aftermarket accessories
    parts are plentiful.

There is a lot to be said for a bolt action .22, especially if you're into the larger bore bolt guns. You can practice the fundimentals and not spend upwards of $1.20 a round.

I'm thinkin' I'll have to pick up something like this for myself here soon.

That sounds like an awesome deal to me. I might have to go pick one up.

Go to Rimfire Central if you haven't already. Plan to spend a lot of time reading and drooling.
