    Default Stupid CBI crap

I stopped by a local pawn shop today and they had a Marlin 60 for $40 on the shelf so I figured what the heck. I filled out my form the same as I always do but when the lady looked at my license she started freaking out and told me that I had to put the address that's on my license on the form. The address that I put on the form was the one that I have registered at the DMV. I had it written on the back but it was mostly worn off and hard to read so she called CBI and they told her that I either had to use the address that was on my ID or I had to provide some kind of official proof of my new address (like a bill or something). I tried to explain to her that I don't live at the address on my ID but she wouldn't let me buy the gun until I filled out the form with that address. This is the first time that I've run into this problem and noone has ever questioned me. I even bought a shotgun at that same pawn shop a few months ago and they didn't hassle me about it then, either. Is this some new hoop that they set up or was this lady a stupid, paranoid whacko that just felt like giving me a hard time today?

I dont know about colorado but in most states they give you a period usually 30 days sometimes as little as 15 days sometimes as much as 6 weeks after you move to get a new license with your correct address. And if you dont they can and will fine you for it. EVERY state i have ever lived in has had that law. Most places your ID has to match the address you put down unless your military with orders in hand

Not here, they just have you put the new address on a sticker on the back of the DL. Been that way since they went to the 10 year DL. They're trying to make less DL's due to the cost of it.

I get crap for my picture all the time too. I was 165Lbs when it was taken. I'm 270 now. But the state wont change it unless I pay some stupid outrageous fee to do it. Karl.

Sounds like you just had somebody who was poorly informed at the pawn shop counter.....CBI could have checked out and verified the change of address with the DMV in a CCIC and an NCIC background check......this is all taking for granted that you did the change of address on your Driver's License correctly and not just placed it on the ID, but also informed the DMV of your recent change....which soulds like you did it correct.

Now, by putting an incorrect address on a 4473 form, I'm sure you broke a law....but I'd have to look it up....at at minumim false statement....you signed the 4473 on the bottom stating everything was correct, yes?

I changed the address at the DMV like I was supposed to. The bottom line is that they told me the address on the 4473 has to match the address on my driver's license. According to them it doesn't matter where I live. The only thing that matters is that the address on the 4473 matches the address that's on the front of my driver's license.

    Never had that problem.

The address on my DL is not the correct address, the address on the back is but you cant read it anymore.

Bought lots of firearms and have never had that problem they notice it and just ask which one is my correct address I tell them and they move on in life.

I went down to the DMV thinking that i had to change my adress at the dmv when i moved. The guy wrote my adress on a piece of masking tape and scotch taped it to the back of my drivers license, and had me fill out a little slip.

I've moved 3 times since and haven't bothered.
