RE: Fire Restrictions Have Been Lifted

Sheriff Joe Pelle recommended Thursday that the current fire restrictions in effect for the western, mountainous half of Boulder County be lifted, and the Board of County Commissioners agreed. Consequently, as of this morning, there are no fire restrictions in effect in unincorporated Boulder County.

The Sheriff made the recommendation after consulting with his Emergency Services staff and United States Forest Service (USFS) officials. Recent rains have dropped the risk of wildland fires to moderate levels. The Forest Service lifted fire restrictions on forest lands July 26th.

Boulder County Transportation Department crews will remove the posted and automated signs that proclaimed the ban from the mouth of each canyon within the next couple of days.
