Default MILLENNIUM PRO PT145 .45 ACP

Any one have any experience with these. Taurus has been getting better and better reviews in the last few years. The other gun that was in contention for the CCW was the Glock G30, but it's A. $250 more and B. Damned uncomfortable to shoot with the brutal checkering on the grip.

The Taurus specs out to be a tad smaller all around, same capacity but the reviews say accuracy beyond 15yrds begins to suffer. I don't really care about that, it's a CCW weapon, if I need to put rounds further out, I should be able to get the hell out of dodge without needing to shoot.

    Thanks..

PS - Don't get me wrong, the G30 is a wonderful shooter, just not for me.

Yeah I had one. I was less then satisfied with it.

I now know Taurus has EXCELLENT customer service. The pistol was back at Taurus 3 times. 1 time the mag catch broke, second time the whole damn thing almost blew up and the frame cracked got it back and the frame was still cracked (never replaced) Called Taurus they sent FedEx out the next day and picked it up from me, fixed it and sent it back.

    I traded it after that.

Accuracy wasnt too bad with it. But my SO's dad has one, a newer one then what I had and the Accuracy of his sucks. But it has not blown up yet either.

I only had about 200-300 round in mine when the frame cracked. About 10 round when the mag catch broke.

    I now have and carry a G30.

    YMMV.

I'm really wondering if they had a bad run. I read one comment about a guy having the whole FCG just falling appart. Then again, there were 20 other reviews that raved. Accuracy at and beyone 25yrds was listed as a detracter, but like I said, anything beyond 15-20 is a back out scenario for me if at all possible.

That might have been one of my posts about the FCG falling apart. Unless it happened to someone else too.

Did some more reading yesterday and it sounds like there were some issues with the polymer portion of the frame in the Gen 1 & 2 itterations. The current Gen is 4 and most folks seem to be seriously pleased even after 1000+ rounds. I don't think it will stand up the glock torture test, but Gina at 5280 Armor is giving a great deal on it.

If you are patient, you can find used Glocks for $400+/- a used Glock is far and above better than a new Taurus.

I like some Taurus, but not the plastic ones......

    I have a taurus 24/7 9mm. For 1500+ rounds it's been an excellent gun.
I have a couple mags for it that need to go in the trash, but with my good mags I have had zero problems.

Just not really a Glock fan. Haven't fired one that really set in my hand comfortably and I'm not inclined to relearn my grip and comfort zone just for a Glock.

I've got a buddy who loves them so I do get to shoot them, but I also have a requirement for a frame inset rail. I like the G30 w/ the rail (been trying to make myself like it, it is a damn fine gun), just don't like the price and can't really stand the harsh checkering on the 3rd gen's.
