Default Input on the XD-9, please.

I would like some input on the XD-9... good or bad. Thanks in advance.

I have an XD9 & XD45 ACP. I like them both. The 9mm new factory mags will hold 16 +1 which is a whole lot of rounds. I have been able to feed any kind of ammo so far with no jams. It is not as easy to completely break down as a Glock but for field stripping it is just as easy. Out of the 1000's of rounds I have run through it I can not recall a FTF. I had a trigger job done to bring it to 3lbs pull and the ramp polished. I switch off with my Kahr PM9 & XD9 as my CCW. The XD9 as well as all the XDs have a massive slide compared to the Glocks. I think it shoots well and as accurate as any Glock. All the new XDs have a new finsh that doesn't seem to rust as easy as the old ones. But living in Denver, rust has not been a problem. I have a bias since I happen to like XDs.

Funny you should ask, I just got done shooting with the ex-wife and she owns one. We rented one last year just before Christmas and she fell in love with it and bought one the next week.

I own a G21C and the only thing I like about the Glock over the XD is that the slide is heavier than the XD45's (and of course it's compensated which AFAIK springfield doesn't offer). But, I haven't actually shot the XD45, just fondled one at The Firing Line, and the grip size is crazy (crazy small, that is).

As far as I can tell, the XD9 is just as reliable and accurate out of the box as any Glock, and the XDs tend to come with more/better accessories and carrying cases. The wife's was $439 retail at TFL, and included a nice foam-lined carrying case, lock, 3 16 round stainless magazines and a kydex type holster. My glock (used) came with a tupperware box and 2 10 round magazines(which is pretty standard). The XD has chamber loaded and cocked indicators both visible and tactile, but both unobtrusive. The beavertail safety made my wife feel a little more 'safe' with it over the Glock, but the trigger safety on it is identical.

Cheapo, you gonna be at this month's shoot? I'd love to try that XD45, as much as my credit cards are screaming at me to not try it.

PPP: the XD9 is an excelent gun, I recommend buying (or trying) one. The Firing Line in Aurora (right off 225 just north of Alameda on Potomac, visible from the highway going southbound) has an XD9 and XD40 available for rent, $10 lane fee, $10 rental, and you gotta buy their ammo but it's not too terribly overpriced. I suggest trying it.

    Actually, they do. http://www.springfield-armory.com/pr...l-ported.shtml

I've not seen where they port the longer tactical barrel but that would be a real sweet pistol.

I have the XD 40 SC and you really should have either the Pearce Grip extension or the extended factory mag if you have big hands.

I've fired the normal sized (4") version and it's good. I think I prefer the grip angle on the XD to that of the Glock.
