    Default Best scope under $300

Hi guys, i'm getting an PTR91 pretty soon here, and have already gotten a claw mount and 1"scope rings for it.

Basically what i'm trying to do is turn the rifle into a sniper rifle. I'm wondering what the best scope would be for the job.... I'm really drooling over the Zeiss but i cant afford a 1000$ scope. Thats more than the rifle it's self.

Anyways i want to get the best scope i can get for under 300$ basically i want it to have at least a 50mm sope and at least 3-9 times zoom. More is better but i want the best quality scope i can get for that money in those specs. Any suggestions?

This one has caught my eye as bieng nice http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/17159-15707-1537.html
This one although cheap also caught my eye

With scopes is what you pay for really what you get or will an 80$ one be just as good as an 300-500$ one?

btw just found this is it any good?

Also i might be able to dig up to around 600$ if it was really worth it, so give good low scopes and good high end scopes from 0-600$ preferably under 300

Also whats the differences in scope rings? Will a 1" scope ring fit a 30mm scope?

Not sure, but I don't think so. 1"=25.4mm. Karl.

I guess that makes sence i see different rings for 1" and 30mm so i guess i'll have to buy a 30mm one if i get a scope like that.

Basically i want a real semi-auto sniper rifle, as close to the PSG1 as i can get. I'm thinkin the PTR91 is a good platform for that, especially since claw military scope mounts are readly available for it. That means the german military thought it a good enough rifle As a bonus i'll still be able to use iron sights. A 2 for one deal unlike if i bought a 16k PSG1 oye....

I don't know beans about scopes but...

A friend of mine works for Burris over in Greeley and he says you definitely get what you pay for in terms of optical clarity and quality of mechanical components.

For the money I like Nikon scopes. In your price range I would go with this guy. But having a Zeiss would rule.

One thing I would do if I were you is get the rifle in hand and try the claw mount before you commit to using it. I personally think the HK claw mount sits WAY to high and think there are much better options out there.

One more thing, if you are looking to turn this into a sniper rifle I would take a look at the new Magpul HK stock

I am partial to Burris I put a Burris full field II with the ballistic plex cross hairs on my AR with the Bushy varmiteer upper. It's a 3X9 40mm works great I topped it off with my AWC Raider can I have played with it at the shoots but have not had a chance to try some really long range shooting with it yet.

Bushnell Elite 3200 of a Super Sniper 10x ... found often at Snipershide.com for under 300. Don't waste your money on cheap knock offs, you'll just end up spending the money twice. Both of those are great entry level optics. Then again for an additional $50 I might be willing to sell you a Bushnell Elite 4200.
