Shot a friend's model 39 and had to get one for myself. Never had a Russian SKS and although the local price was a little high it still went home with me.

My oldest son turns 20 on the 12th of February. This past Christmas he said how he though it would be cool to get an AR for his birthday. He's a great young man, far smarter than his old man. So...I built him his first AR. Of course I had to sight it in to make sure it ran (I truly had no doubts). It ran like a top and sighted in at 100 yards in with 15 rounds. Ran a total of 35 through it. Darn thing was so much fun to shoot I didn't want to give it up. He's going to be extremely excited.

(Disclaimer: No, I will not build you an AR for your birthday).

Check out the Smoke Yard, in Idaho Springs. Good burnt ends, chipotle sweet potatoes and other sides.
