While not old enough by summer to start laying. They'll be old enough to hopefully handle the colder months. How's the chicken coop coming along ?

Construction probably starts tomorrow. They are supposed to be able to be in the coop full time (without heat) at 6 weeks. I'll probably have it mostly built pretty quick, and functional shortly after. Once it's ready to rock, I plan on putting them outside anyway with the heat lamp at nights. They already spend pretty much all day outside already. d

Bummer. I just walk around the house and knock on every window until he let's me in. Sometimes he tries to play tough, but when he sees me get the ladder to get the second story windows, he usually lets me in.

Two more chicks to replace the one that died. I wanted a variety to start with so I was happy at the opportunity. Also, since they are a few weeks old (to match mine) they were even discounted.
The one that looks like a chipmunk is a Speckled Sussex and the darkest one is a Barred Rock, which is the breed that got me into this whole chicken fiasco to begin with.

Went to Jax again with my kid today, and we didn't get one yet.

These were discounted down to $1.99 each at the Big R at 120th and Colorado. I don't know what the regular price is, but can't be much more. They discounted the older ones and just got new ones in.
Older chicks in the left two bins, brand new chicks in the other bins.

I would say never Tractor Supply... They are over priced and they have less useful stuff than any of the others.

Now I know R and Tractor has chicks. I don't need to travel all the way to Sheridan and 120th.
