If you're talking about what brutal posted, that's a Ubiquiti UniFi access point.
It's basically a badass radio for your router, because the radio in the router the internet company rents you is garbage.

Also really handy since you can use several of these on one router, making a bigger wifi footprint.

Thanks. Our house isn't quite big enough, but we are in need of a new router, apparently.

Keep your router and pipe a couple of access points off of it.

I would bet that one of these access points would serve your house, driveway, and backyard pretty well (I dont know your exact house, but these things have a VERY good range compared to your typical home-gamer router).

My brother's 3200 sq ft coffee shop has just one of these, mounted in the ceiling at pretty much the middle of the building. You can get good wifi about 50 yards outside the asbestos sided building.

My current network has grown a bit from its humble beginnings.

I'm using the AC Pro's. The LR or one of the mesh AP might be a better choice for wider coverage (slower throughput).

Hope I made a good decision.

I don't know what their products are like now. They used to be fairly good quality. Additionally my grandmother was friends with the Burris family. When I was a kid I was around them on occasion.

Well, the one in the shop was the cheapest model (don't remember specifically which one), but he's in rural TX and throughput on the AP exceeded anything he could get from his ISP, so it didn't matter. The ISP wifi wouldn't get outside the doors at all.

You leaving town anytime soon? That network looks desirable, haha

I found the Nighthawk router, from Netgear, will light up my entire house and probably the neighborhood. Good stuff.

Yes, and highly recommended for most users.

I've always run a standalone firewall appliance and tend to be a bit OCD on the security/network side of things.

How many devices is the router supporting?

I run an LR AP. Coverage area is huge. One AP ceilings mounted covers everything.
