For me, with an installed 250GB SSD already in my mobile workstation (and a slow 1TB), the 500GB were tempting but everything they had on sale was old slow tech.

What's the deal with prime now? I did a free trial last year befor the holidays, then cancelled before 30 days. Now it seems they want to pre-charge me $99 and if I cancel before 30 days, I get a refund?
Did they charge you up front?

Even for the $99/yr, it is absolutely worth it for some people. We use it for free movies and music all the time, as well as the free 2-day shipping. It's really nice to get free 2 day shipping on that one little $5 widget that you need to replace and can't find at the hardware store. If you're like me, you'll just save the trip to the hardware store and order it from amazon first. Save time and gas money and get it 2 days later. (And often you get a better price online, anyway)
