    That brand (Gransfors ) is one of the best out there. The size is a good all around, tho I could see a need for the full size one + a camp/hunting axe. For full time tree felling, I would start to think of getting the Gransfors American Forrest axe. For mid winter use in Minnesota, I would use a different style axe...something made by stihl...or maybe Council Hudson Bay.

    Very nice gift. I was given one as a gift 10 or 12 years ago. More of a hatchet, though...only about 10 1/4" long. Razor sharp, same leather sheath. I can't bring myself to use it as it's more like a work of art than a tool.

    These decommissioned M45A1s include their Colt Historical letter and display the crossed out USMC logo on the slide.

    That's one of the ways they show it was decommissioned. While not the place i'd choose. It has definitely put the resell price wayyyyyyy up there.
