Default Simple, not bad food idea (Rice-Beans)

Making burritos and I tried adding more sea-salt to the rice, azuki bean mix I was using. Just brown/full grain rice and those red azuki beans, and black-eye peas and sea salt. This will make an excellent soup base, but it was almost good enough for dinner! The trick this time was that I used about tablespoon of sea-salt. Now add some veggies and other spices, (I) could have this for a week no problem, in emergency, longer, no problem. Adding enough salt was the key. Sea salt does not raise blood pressure, (it can lower it) don't ask me why.

So time for some buckets and mylar bags, etc...

    Default Why all the work?

Cans of Pinto and Black beans. Bags of rice. Salt, Garlic powder and olive oil. Bottles of salsa, hot sauce and your good to go.
Add various cans of chicken, spam, beef, and I can eat dinner tomorrow.

I try and preach having enough and varied spices. Even though there are some I may not use much it is still nice to have around.

Some of the combo mix ones like Spicy spaghetti and taco mix I have a bunch of.

That'd take care of me for a good long while - and happily at that.

I happen to love savory spice shops. If you have never been it is worth a visit just to see what is out there you might want to add to your preps. If you go, take a bottle of water with you as they have tasters out for all of their stuff and you will need it to clear your tongue or it all tastes alike after a few tastes.

Sea salt might lower bp because it is not iodized like table salt.
