Looking into a home system, due to the fact that our fluoride levels are 2x the threshold limit recommended. Does anyone here distill their own water, and if so, what would you recommend for a family distillation system?

Distillation is slow and takes a lot of energy. If you are just looking at drinking water, you might be better off getting one of those water dispensers with the 5 or 10 gallon water containers that you can swap out. It might be more cost effective in the long run. What most of the adds for distillation don't tell you is you have to either stop the distillation before all the water is gone or you will end up with crusty chemicals all over the container that gets heated. So you don't get 100 percent of the water through it. The crustys you get in the bottom of the heated container is hell to get off too. We use high concentrations of acid to get it off the glass.

Filters won't work for Flourine either. It's the ultimate little greedy element. It wants that 8th electron and it's going to grab it from anything. In water, it takes that electron from the water in the form of a hydrogen molicule and becomes an acid to a certain extent, not 100% reaction, but close. It's tough to get out of any solution.

I have a MIDI D. All stainless construction. Uses a water heater element same as a house type water heater. The elements burn out every couple of years, I get a new one at the local plumping supply shop. I got mine on eBay for $75. It was bid up to $125, and I won! Guy informed me later it did not work and I could have it for $75. Made by Pure Water Inc. Lincoln, Nebraska.
