    Default Retro

I notice that the newest big thing over at Arfcom is the "Retro" build. Anybody planning on doing one?

Personally I can't really see the point, I was in the Army long enough ago that "Retro" was current issue. Didn't really like it then, can't say if I would have any affection for it now. I much prefer the A2.

    Opinions?

had an A1. The A2 is a better rifle.

that being said, I've got more time with the M4A1 than the A2.

If I want retro I would go .30-40 Krag

    LOL

I would rather have an M-14/M-1A instead of an M16A1

I converted my slabside Sporter Match HBAR lower to an XM177-clone. It's a much more enjoyable rife now.

I've built up an M16/SP1 clone and an M16A1 clone.

I'd say I'm in on the retro craze. [headbang]

Well, I'm a short little guy with short arms, and really liked the shorter stock on the older models. I also like, from a carrying and shooting standpoint, the lighter barrel of the older models.

However, from a performance standpoint, the A2 is much better with a heavier barrel and much improved sights.

My mind set is, retro if you are making a Wall Hanger or preserving history. But if you are building a performance rifle, go with the newest and best designs.
