What a day. I got to the hospital at 7am and just got home. The surgery was about 3 hours long and the doctor assures us that everything went well. The wife is in a lot of pain, which is to be expected with this kind of surgery. As pretty much everything else has gone, the nursing facility that Mary left this morning for outpatient surgery said they didn't have a bed for her to return to. University Hospital couldn't admit her since she didn't qualify with the insurance company for inpatient care. University also filed a complaint against the nursing facility with the state board...the ombudsman is supposed to call me in the morning. They were able to find a bed at another acute care hospital and she was transferred there tonight. All parties will have to try and get everything straightened out with the insurance company tomorrow.

My wife and I both thank you all for the support.

    G'night!

    G-Man,
I'm new to the site, and I've been reading the chronicles of you and your wife. Brother you have been through a lot!
Keep up the courage and all of our prayers are with you.

Not nearly as much as she has. I don't know how she's made it this far.

They've got a better grip on her pain meds today. Mary's out of it, but she's getting some rest off and on.

The facility she's in now is helping us get her into University's rehab program. That would be excellent if they can pull it off.

Finally, some good news! We visited the Orthopaedic surgeon now that it has been 2 weeks since the surgery. They removed the splint and took X-rays. The Dr. is very pleased. Everything is in the right position and is healing well. I got to see the hardware and there's plenty of it. A long plate on the Fibula with 7 screws. A screw into the Tibia and one into the Talus. 2 rods keep the joint from moving and stick out the bottom of the foot. They put a new cast over the lower leg to keep everything protected. Doc says they'll remove the rods in 4 weeks and she'll get to move the foot and start putting some weight on the foot with a flexible brace.

Progress is good! Thanks for the support, gang!
