opinions please newbie about to buy equipment

I also posted this on AR15 but i figured id post it on a local board maybe i can get some help first hand

I am a complete newb when it comes to reloading, I have watched people do it a while back. Well i am to the point i want to order some stuff and start reloading, ammo is starting to rip me up. I have read and i think i want a progressive machine
Dillon RL 550 B
Dillon XL 650
RCBS pro 2000

or im open for recommendations I am a newb to this big time, The one that appeals to me is the dillon 550 its fairly inexpensive and alot of people say its very nice setup. Then some others tell me that the 650 is awsome but may not be a good setup for a beginner reloader. so I dont know. It will take me a little while to get a complete setup, but i want something that I'm not goin to grow out of in a couple of months. And i need something to do during the winter.
any suggestions would be appreciated.
At this point the main calibers i shoot are .223 and .40 S&W, but i will probably will expand to .308 and 9mm and will expand from that.

I like Dillon really well. For a relative beginner the Square Deal is a great buy. Under $300 last time I checked. Set up for .40 S&W you wouldn't need much more a case cleaner/tumbler.

My recommendation is to find a powder charge that pretty much fills the case so you are instantly aware of a double charge, then reload away.


oops, just saw the SQ deal is $310 now, guess it has been a while.

Shoot, the 550 becomes a much better deal with the 650 looking great as well. If you want automatic case feeding, the 650 is the way to go.

the 550 is the one i have been reccomended the most,
some have said stay away from the square deal, because it only takes square deal dies and if i want something better later on i have to start all over
So I am leaning towards the 550

i won an auction and going to pick it up saturday, i will be posting the 45 acp conversion for sale in the classifieds at that time because i dont own a .45acp, price all together i saved about 200 dollars if i added it right plus freight.

so who has a similar 550 or 650 setup who is willing to show me how the hell all this stuff is for. if you load .40 or .223 or any caliber should be similar. i would be willing to learn anything you can teach me. buy you lunch or what ever. all i want is part of a day to hang out with someone that reloads on this setup, so i can get an idea on how its supposed to work.
