    Default Are We Wimps?

Several people have said that people that carry a gun are wimps. If you are going to go to blows go to blows with your fists and if someone wants to threaten your life then you should be able to defend your life.

    What do you say?

I don't start trouble with anyone, but I'll certainly finish it if they insist.

Deadly force laws are written in such a way that the use of a firearm is only justified when absolutely necessary, and that includes brandishing. The only time I'd call someone a wimp for carrying a gun is if they start fights just because they know they've got a gun for protection.

As far as I'm concerned, a fight for your life should never be fair. F*ck anyone who says otherwise.

Well I think if you actually let someone calling you a whimp for carrying a firearm or a knife affect you, then you've most likely got self-esteme issues to begin with. I don't judge my own personal value or worth based on someone, especially someone who lacks the same degree of knowledge about firearms as I have, have an effect on me based on my preference for having/carrying them.

Then again, when the Zombies come, I'm sure those will be the first folks lined up as fodder! [roll]

I once had some idiot start screwing with me on the highway late one night. He followed me to my apt. then got out of his car exclaiming, "I'm gonna kick you a$$ MF!" He was easily twice my size and fully capable of following up on his threat.

I did not shoot him. I did not point a gun at him. I mearly stood my ground, and racked a round into my Colt Govnt Model.

At that point he just froze and asked, "What are you gonna do with that?"

"Well, I'm not gonna let you beat me to death, that's for sure."

He ended up getting back in his car and driving off, still a free man and very much alive, and I ended up without a scratch. Had I not been armed, or only armed with a knife, I'd have gone to the hospital and he'd be in jail.

I have no problems carrying a gun. People can call me anything they want, except late fer supper. Am I a wus, a wimp? Damn skippy, but I'm a healthy wimp.

    Default I am

yup..couldn't fight myself out of a wet paper bag anymore: cracked vertebrae with seperated ligaments and muscles, bone spurs, dead and damaged nerves..messed up for life. Bad right shoulder, previously broken right wrist, bad ankle. Too broke to fight fair, so if I had to, I'd wimp out and use my equalizer. I know I'm not in near as bad shape as some out there and I'd like to keep it that way.

I don't start shit with anyone and I'm not going to let someone start shit with me. If someone insists that fighting me is a good idea then I'll do what I have to to change their mind about it. I agree that brandishing is bad. I also realize that as soon as I pull out my gun that the entire situation changes dramatically. That won't stop me from pulling it out to discourage some idiot drunk and his buddies from beating me up, though. You don't have to be in fear for your life to use your gun. You have to be in fear of your life OR great bodily injury. If I can walk away then naturally that will be my first choice. Sometimes they won't let you.

I watched it happen a couple of weeks ago downtown at 3 am. A couple of guys were walking through a parking lot when a bigger group of guys started shit with them. They really had nowhere to go. One of the guys in the big group started arguing with one of the other guys. A few seconds later he got jumped and beat down. It happened fast. Who knows what the whole story was. All I saw was a couple of normal looking guys try to get past a bunch of thugs in a parking lot and they got jumped for it. I couldn't help but wonder if, had I been in that situation, pulling out my gun would have been the right decision.

Gun, knife, stick, bare hands and feet, whatever... I will defend myself, my loved ones, my friends, my neighbors and my property to my full ability if any are justifiably threatened. Never started a fight in my life, and I plan to keep it that way.

I say YOU SHOULD NOT LISTEN TO LIBERALS........... They are lucky they have enough brain capacity to remember to keep breathing.

If you run your mouth then yes be a man and go blow to blow carrying a gun has nothing to do with that. Carrying a gun is about when you DON'T pick the fight it comes to you and you have no choice.
