Default Ummm... FBI Handout Lists Purchase of Preparedness Items as “Potential Indicators of Terrorist Acti

An FBI Denver Joint Terrorism Task Force handout being distributed to Colorado military surplus store owners lists the purchase of popular preparedness items and firearms accessories as “suspicious” and “potential indicators of terrorist activities,” instructing store owners to keep records on and report people who:
“Make bulk purchase of items to include:

    Weatherproofed ammunition or match containers
    Meals Ready to Eat
Night Vision Devices; night flashlights; gas masks
    High capacity magazines
    Bi-pods or tri-pods for rifles”

Is it time to worry yet?

Taken out of context....read the rest of the article. Nowhere does it require the recordkeeping of names/addreses, just a record of the transaction (which any business does anyways). It's the same thing where Home Depot/Lowes stores were asked to be suspicious of any large quantities of ammonium based fertilizer and screens (making explosives)

I hear ya, but encouraging vendors to report someone as suspicious for buying MREs is a lot different than reporting someone for buying large quantities of fertilizer in my opinion.

I bought a bunch of canned beans at Costco this past week, I wonder if that puts me on a watch list for anything other than methane?

I fear this bomb worse than any other. You are obviously planning a major attack and I'm afraid I'll have to report you to DHS!

Eh, dried black beans are the worst. They taste better but, my god, even bigfoot would run away....

Anyway, are they going after the 'Johnny Come Lately" preppers now?- I would thing they would want to know the preppers that have been doing it for 5 years or more. Like those vicious Mormons. 100 years of prepping don't ya know?

What kind of terror does one create with an MRE anyway?

What are they planning to make people want to stock up on MRE's and ammunition? I bought a lot of Ramon noodles I bet that chick at wal mart has already turned me in.
