Angels rejoice when BigBears trumpet blows
Kimber dedicated .22lr 1911 pistols
Anyone have any experience with these? Is there a better choice when it comes to a dedicated 1911-.22lr?
1. Reliable, picky about ammo?
2. Accurate?
3. Is it a full 1911, including internals?
4. Anything need to be replaced?
5. Does Kimber make a threaded barrel for this?
Thank you for the answers. I never seem to be able to call them during their business hours.

Machine Gunner
Kinda Sorta. I have a conversion kit that I leave on a Rock Island Armory 1911A1. The 22 rf slide assembly replaces the stock 45acp slide assembly. The lower frame stays the same. It uses the RIA standard slide stop.
I haven't had any reliability problems with mine. I have used CCI ammo almost exclusively though so I can't say if it is ammo sensitive. I just know I haven't had problems.
I am a lousy shot so I'm limited on info on that. Benching it I can get about 1 1/2 inch groups at 25 yards which is about as good as I get without a target gun. Another guy tried shot a ten round group of about an inch at fifty feet off hand. He said I need to get a lighter trigger spring.
I didn't see anything in the Kimber catalog about a threaded barrel.
Kimber has the owners manual available for download on their website-

Rgr, I'm not interested in the conversion kits. I would like to know first hand specifics on the dedicated .22lr line they have. I might just have to find time to call them... I just wanted a source not associated with them. Thanks.
