That don't mean squat. Unless that license hasn't been renewed since the law went into effect in May 2003, then it's a CHP. The new law very specifically states "handgun" not "weapon".

I have one just like that from Jeffco. They are re-using the artwork from the previous CWPs issued under the old system and are in technical violation of the new law. When my CWP expired last year, they reissued a CHP under the new law and yes, it says "weapons" on it..

Back when the so-called uniform state-wide carry bill was being jamed through the Republican controlled legislature, I and many others complained loud and hard to Rep White and Sen Clouber about the 'H' versus 'W' in their NRA boilerplate bill. Not only were we trading away the right to concealed carry weapons such as long knives and machine guns, we were sacrificing places we could formerly legally carry (such as schools). With the new law, we were risking serious prosecution for carrying on ANY school property at ANY time. Even carrrying while jogging on the sidewalk of a school closed for the summer or a riding your bike on the sidewalk of the school bus depot could land you in deep do-do. But Governor Oprah wanted no carry in schools and they stupidly gave him way more than he asked for.

I brought this up to the state NRA chapter and got a condescending lecture from Tony Fabian the CSSA pres: why would I ever want to carry a knife and how I shouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight, yada, yada. They were clearly in a see no evil state of mind and pissed at Doug Lamborn for advancing a much better bill and bottling theirs up in committee.
Muzzleflash is correct in everything he has said we took a compromise. I would like to add that yes we gave up somethings but we gained a lot also. I don't like the fact that I lost school carry and am really pissed they changed it to "Handgun".

However CO would not be a "shall issue state" if we gave no ground. We gave almost nothing compared to what other states have done. In CO you can carry any place not prohibited by Federal law wich means steril areas of the airport, Federal court houses and CO took away Public K-12 schools. Thats it otherwise you can carry any place you wish and my favorite part is signs don't mean a damn thing.

We did not give much up compared to the other states that have endless restrictions.

Now if SG doesn't ship blades over 3.5" to Colorado, why did they send me an East German AK47 Bayonet? I ordered 2 different types of Bayonets, only 1 made it, I got an e-mail about restricted delivery on the other.
