What do you do with the departed?
I used to "part" them, freeze them, and bury pieces with the seeds when I planted corn in the spring like the Native Americans did. Really, I did. I tried it for two years. I couldn't say it helped. My garden still sucked.

I've heard they're supposed to be great fertilizer--some guy in Wisc. I think it is freeze dries them, grinds them up and sells them for fertilizer--google it. pretty interesting actually.
I take mine to the zoo if they want them, and if not the farmers will take them.
