IMHO a Colt series 70 is tough to beat but they are pushing the 1K mark. I have a AMT hardballer that is one hefty, accurate and reliable gun. Those go for around $300 and up.
I have a couple of friends up here who bought the new Rock Islands. They really like them said they shoot good and seem to be well built.
