Default 1873 marlin .22long revolver from gramps pic heavy

This was given to my grandfather by his grandfather. Its a marlin 1873 xx standard chambered in .22 long. This would have been a step up from a derringer from what gramps told me. Everything functions fine and locks up pretty good. I'm gonna put a cylinder of .22short cbs through it with my gramps and then it wont be shot again until i pass it on to my future son or grandson. I cleaned it up a bit, but i'm finished with the cleaning up now. From now on its gun oil with no solvents only.
Its now the most priceless gun in my collection.
    Here are the pics

From what I've read they were made from 1873 to 1887
The barrel and chambers in the cylinder are nice and shiny, i don't think it was shot much, if it was it was cleaned up right after as it would have used corrosive black powder.
New these sold for around $5 with brass sideplates. Engraving and plating added $1-$3 to the total price depending on how ornate the engraving was. They were offered with plastic, pearl, and rosewood grips, mine has the rosewood grips and they're in near perfect condition

There were a few changes made to the markings and such through their production but the serial number on this one is 289. I'm trying to find out as much info as i can about it so i can print it out and pass it down with the picture of my great grandpa, and a pic of grandpa and I shooting it together.
If anyone has any info that i haven"t posted feel free to add, because i want to find as much about it as i can.
One in about the same condition recently sold at auction for a little over $1300.

    Range report

    new .22
The box i made for it

The target... This was from 7 yards. The D in sharpie was me, the P in sharpie was my pops

    Pops and i shooting it

This shoots like it is brand new, if someone made a repo i would snatch one up in a heartbeat. all i need now is an old box of .22 long to put in the cigar box under the barrel and ill be set. Not too bad for a 140 year old revolver

ETA look in the wanted section where im offering up a trade for a old box of .22 longs

Very cool. I love the older guns and that one is a keeper for sure. I bet you will have dreams about shooting it with your sons and grandsons.

    Thanks for sharing.
