Default How does one go about selling, class III item?

Thinking about selling my LE6920 which includes amongst many extras a Halo supressor.

So if I have someone interested how do i get the halo to them legally.

If you're both in the same state, you can do a direct transfer without dealers. But you gotta know how. First, you will need 2 BATFE form 4's (Form 5320.4) & 2 FBI fingerprint cards (blue, NOT RED). Then you gotta figure out how you will do the deal. This is why many will want a dealer involved even in state sometimes. Does the buyer pay in full up front? What's his guarantee that it will get done properly?

Personally the way I've done it was with a simple and generic sales contract from any office store. Then I give him the paperwork with all the pertinent firearms data already on it. It's up to him to get the CLEO sig., fingerprints, and photos. If he succeeds, he sends off the paperwork himself via certified/tracked mail so he can track it to BATFE himself. After that, he waits. If he fails to get a CLEO sig, it's on him to re-sell the item to re-coop his money.

It's safer and easier to use a dealer though. Karl.
