Default Rem 700 sps aac-sd stock replacement?

Went and zeroed my new rifle today. My first remington. The gun shot well with a vortex viper pst on it for glass. Gun was under 1 MOA at 100 off the rest. Off the Bipod however was a different story. Though consistant, and tight groups, the bipod with the factory hogue stock had a point of impact that put it at low and to the left. i am assuming this is due to the flex in the rubber stock. This would be consistant with all other reviews. So I guess I need to switch out the stock. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Trying to keep it around $500 for the stock.

HS precision - you can occasionally luck out and find a used stock from a P gun. I've seen good results just by removing some material right where the stock touches the barrel.

OP- If your stock is touching the barrel any further forward than an inch in front of the recoil lug it will cause variations in your POI.
Barrel should float freely from that point forward in any circumstance-.020 is a good clearance.

For an aftermarket stock Graves hit it-you can usually find a good take off for a song. Take a look at Greybull Precision. They are made by Bell & Carlson. I scored mine for 3 bills at the Tanner in August.

I was looking hard at the Bell and Carlson A5 stocks. There is a user by the name of "Bighoser" on Gun Broker out of Cedaredge that I think I may try to contact and see if we can work out a trade/deal.

    - Ad says OD green with black webbing but looks tan to me. Thus my desire to contact the owner.

    http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=253947244 - Tan w/ black web

http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Sel...px?User=112897 - Users full line. Nice glass too. Maybe I can get a hold of him and meet him at the next Tanner.

FWIW, I have a SPS Tactical so I'm in the same boat as you.

No, it's not that young ruffian off of here named Hoser. I already checked.

Thanks Guys. The stock seems to touch just about everywhere. Loca thanks for the lead on gunbroker. The prices seem about right. Let me know if you are able to work a deal with the guy. I am also leaning towards the tan. But can't decide between the A2 or A5.

    Nope. Not me.

The B&C stocks are pretty good. I like Manners for fiberglass and AI for a chassis. You could not give me a McMillan.

On that note, I'm completely happy with my Manners with their chassis system installed. Manners calls it the DBM Mini Chassis. But that would put you well over $500, but not much of a price difference compared to picking up a good stock and putting new bottom metal in it.

    Default went b&c A5

Barrel floats and the fit is pretty good.

Definately added some weight but I'm not carrying too far anyway.

Good choice. Make sure you torque your action screws to 65 in/lbs. After a few range sessions pull the action and check your contact patterns. If there are any signs of "fretting" ie movement bed it.
