    I am weak.

The south store only had one, the one up by me had five to choose from. Picked the one with the brightest bore, fewest stock repairs, and clearest marks. And the first thing I did, even before cleaning it, was take that bolt apart

The big problem now is I'm going to HAVE and get a 98k to compare and contrast.

    You got that right.

I've got a mid-20's Hex Tula 91/30, an early-mid 30's round Izvehk 91/30 and most recently a 1944 M44. It's neat to see the evolution of the design and compare the machine work involved. But that's one of the fun things about C&R guns.

They get mauser 8mm rifles quite freaqeuntly at the big five for around $99

    Heres what i have.

Mauser, Smooth, Accurate, well balanced round... kick is so so rather managable, Blade Baynet

Mosin, Medium-smooth (depending how well you clean the sucker and how well ya lube it), A little less accurate, HEAVY KICK, Very Powerfull Round, Really F'ing long spike bayonet.

The difference is really do you prefer Raw power (Mosin) or Good workmanship with medium power.

I prefer the Mauser, but can easly see that the mosin is just as effective under the right circumstances. I have 8k round of 8mm and round 8k rounds of 7.62x54r.... I love both rifles.

I have a mid 30s 91/30 that is pretty accurate. I like trying to emagine what it was like back then protecting my city......

I had an M44 that was crap. The bolt would get jammed closed half the time shooting Russian ammo.... I traded it off....

To me, it's about the story behind the C&Rs I have. What, when, where and if there is some little mod to the rifle, why was it done? I have a Enfield #4 MK1 that had thefront blade sight removed and alittle notch cut in it, it also had the trigger re worked so it had a light - short pull.
