    Default Elk in Rangely

    Hey guys I drew for area 21 we went scouting out near Rangely, looked like to us most of the sweet spots are posted with a f@&$)!g natural gas rig on it. Kind of desperate for a little advise. I don't want to bogart your sweet spot but any advise will help. Also, if you have tags for first season elk 21 and want to group up (I am a full blown pack mule) please let me know.

    Default Elk in Rangley

    I will check with my dad and a co-worker who both grew up in Rangley and see if I can get you some good advise. Shoot me a PM with any specific details.

    Thanks
    Forgiveness is between them and god. It’s my job to arrange the meeting

    Call the DOW and find out who the warden is in that area and call him/her and ask em...I've found that they are extremely helpful. You may have to leave your number and have them call you.

    Glad some people chimed in for you! You go on hunting websites and people dont help people out here as much as they do where I am from! Pretty much any place out here i found I found it on my own... which isnt bad but a little help would have been nice!

    I hunted unit 20 this year with my bow for deer and bear and struck out big time! only saw 1 doe though whole time and every spot that was public that i walked all over didnt show crap for sign!

    good luck and hope these guys put you on some critters!

    I'm a little late to the party, but when we hunted GMU 21 several years ago, all the elk were in the southern-most part of the GMU. Lots of deer near Rangley, but not many elk. You have to get into the timber in that particular GMU.

    Hey guys;

    An update, I went hunting first season in GMU 21 the South of Rangely area. The weather was really hot hot the first 2 days (totally could have rocked the shorts) Saw a ton of deer. Positively 3 full on Boone and Crocket bucks. Didn't see an elk for the first couple of days. Tracks and sh!t yes, furry pre-hamburgers no.

    Monday morning it rained like a bitch and didn't even see deer but scouted some awesome places. Tuesday and Wednesday we saw animals but didn't get a good shot. The 5x5 we saw on Wednesday morning jumped the Hwy 64 right into GMU 10. Ran along the fence on the other side oh the road for 15 minutes trying to come back over to our side and become winter food. But he gave up and that was the end of the hunt. Thanks so much to everyone who helped out especially, Hen and CU. The hunt was a total kick in the ass. HUGE, HUGE thanks.
