    Hi,

New to the site. Been lurking, but this is my first post.

So here is the problem: the BRC has a looooong wait for membership. MY wife and I are new to handguns, my wife new to guns period, and we have daughters who want to learn to be proficient, and LHC seems about the only game in town. The problem there is the "feel" of the place. I took my wife twice. Once as we (the only ones there) were leaving, a few sketchy types arrived (sketchy is in the eyes of the beholder and context of setting, yes). Then, this past week, we got there and a few guys were flinging CDs around and blasting with a shotgun. Probably safe -- the guys had a low-cost skeet setup, really -- but the muzzle-end of things was moving around, and I got "the look" from my wife, and instead of shooting I got to buy her lunch in town.

It sounds crazy to ask this, but is there a family-friendly place where I can take them to shoot, whre they won't be thinking about getting jacked up and can concentrate on relaxing, shooting safely, and making tight groups in a target?

I have used search and looked at a lot of resources, but I didn't see this particular slant anywhere. They're a little self-conscious, but also want to feel they're in a safe environment. Curious for any comments or suggestions.

My advice is to stay away from Left Hand Canyon. Look up the directions for the North shoot location just past Lyons. It is much nicer, more open and every other month the CO-AR crowd is there.

There is also the Pawnee Grasslands, but it is a drive. Ft Collins has a new indoor range.

Welcome and +1 on the north shoot location. That's where I took my wife to shoot for her first time a few months ago.

Okay, the advice seems clear and consistent. I'm sure you'll see me sooner or later at an organized shoot; now I need to get up to that site ASAP and do some shooting.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

What's the scoop? (I seem to have missed any other mention of it.)
