Fixed or Fold
Do you think it is better to have a fixed or fold blade for edc? I am thinking of changing mine to a small fixed (ESEE Izula). Why, fixed blades don't have any moving parts to fail, and no need to unfold can go straight to work. I would like to know what you guys think cause some of you have much more exp. Thanks for your suggestion/input.
Fixed blades are just pains you carry unless you strap it outside in a sheath. Get a quality folder and never worry again. Get a really quality Emerson with a "Wave" and your knife will be ready whenever you take it out of your pocket - like magic.
I've never EDC'd a fixed blade, but I always have my spyderco para military with me. The lockup is nice and solid. Ok, so I kind of lied. I used to carry a kabar TDI, but it kept holding up my shirt whenever I would lean over so I ditched it. I clipped it to my riggers belt at a 5 o'clock ish position.
Maybe you can try a kydex horizontal carry option for the ESEE in the 5-7 o'clock. That could be a nice little dish!

I carry the Izula as my EDC. Tek Lok attached to sheath and can be carried horizontal or vertical. Never gets in the way and as OP stated a fixed blade is ready to go. JMHO

Those of you that carry an Izula daily, would you mind snapping a picture of how you have it set up? I've been thinking of one, but don't like strapping stuff to my belt. I carry a CRKT M21 inside the waistband of my pants at about the 4:00 position, and I love it. But I've been eyeballing an Izula for a while now.... I'm still undecided.
I've also been eyeballing a Kershaw leek to try out for a more "dressy" knife. They seem pretty nice. Anyone carry one?
I carry a Kershaw folding for everyday. It has a very solid lockign system. I don't use it for heavy use, just cutting tape and the occasional seat belt. I don't get as many concerned looks when its out of sight. With a Kabar belt knife, people seem to give concerned looks.
