A few more.
Lamb Pickaroon 0.5lb, re-hafted and sharpened the beak. These were used in saw mills to pull planks away from the blades. This one is now a staple at the cutting/splitting pile.
No name hewing hatchet head 2.5lb, re-hafted on a 24" D-Link boy's axe handle. The head was pretty beat up and rusty. Nice little chopper.
Both were set high on the neck for a little extra reach.
No name ice axe 2.0lb. Probably turn of the century. These were used for cutting ice on ponds. The pulaski is from above.
Traded this...
Woodings-Verona 2.1lb, '97 vintage. Refurbed blade and re-hafed with a D-Link boy's axe handle.

Plumb 3.5lb double bit with original handle. Probably a '50s vintage.
A bit of an odd duck.
True Temper Tommy Axe 1.75lb. This pattern was introduced in 1941. Not sure if the handle is original but it is old and still tight. The top half of the handle is octagonal. The head is in good shape with a clean edge and nice patina. These guys were used for roofing and floor work.

Anybody working on any new projects ? I've been hitting antique stores pretty hard. Got a few old Disston hand saws this weekend. I havnt had any luck finding axes that wernt all buggered up. Passed on a Collins cruiser double bit that I'm now regretting. Isn't close enough to go grab it anytime soon either.
Buy once, cry once.
Had to get a set for the cabin.

I have a couple of old hatchets around. Nothing special though.
Passed on a no name double bit. But did find this "Gambles Artisan " 3.5lb single.
And my small collection. A vintage Craftsman I rehung and my Husqvarna forest axe (Hultafors).
I think I might go 28in on the Gambles ? Not quite boys axe size but figured it would be different than my other axe ?
