Safeway robbery suspect arrested

Police have arrested the man suspected in an attempted robbery and possible hostage situation at the Safeway on South College this morning.
David Dubois, 19, of Fort Collins was arrested after he escaped from the store at 460 S. College and led police on a foot chase to the corner of Whedbee and Oak streets, according to dispatch reports.
Dubois surrendered shortly after 11 a.m. at 218 Whedbee telling police he was coming off an methadone addiction, according to dispatch reports.
SWAT teams were called to the Safeway at 460 S. College, shortly before 10:30 a.m. after reports that a man with a mask and rifle had entered the store, said Fort Collins Police spokeswoman Rita Davis.
Dispatch reports that shots were fired and a hostage taken at some point and have not yet been confirmed, Davis said.
Police are still sweeping the Safeway and nearby stores to ensure no other suspects are involved. It is unclear if anyone was injured.
