    Default Locking bolt back

I read this on the Sampson board, has anyone ever heard of it? :?:

Oh... and if your weapon is brand new, you may want to lock the bolt to the rear and leave it like that until you can get it to the range. That way the number of break-in shots will be reduced.

I was frustrated with my first AR because I had numerious FTE. Then I did a search and finally read the manual and found out that there would be a 200 round break in period. I locked the bolt to the rear while it was being stored and the next time at the range, the weapon worked flawlessly.
    thanks

Nope and I have to call . Every AR I own I simply took to the range and shot it. My AR with the RDIAS was brand new and I pounded the hell out of it F/A about 500 rnds first time out.

What manual was this guy reading? out of two rifles and four uppers, the only one I ever did a "Break in" period on was My varmiteer upper. The rest of them I just shot 200 or so rounds through before I sighted them in. that was about it.

[bsflag] What a load of crap

Most AR failures are magazine related

leave the bolt down like you would expect.
how does putting the bolt back break in the barrel? Allows the little mice to come and do their work on the barrel?
    ugh.

Shoot it like you stole it! [postal]

Somebody should have said "No" to those funny looking little mushrooms.

The only thing you might get from locking the bolt back is a little bit of 'spring set' in the buffer spring.
