I have a large Leatherman that is about 15 years old. It is my constant companion.

    Have a smaller leatherman also.

Tried a couple of Gerber but they broke.

I have a Gerber Radius. Can not recommend it.

I have a Gerber 800. Good multi tool, but the blade was very hard and not as durable as the one on the radius and I broke it. I really like the interchangable saw and cutting edges on the pliers. THe little rubber pads were gone in a hurry, peeled right off, and the aluminum body has corroded a little in the last several years...8 or so. Still functional, still in my arsenal. It is a little bulky.

I have a leatherman wave. Love the more compact size over the Gerbers. the cutters are not as good as the gerber 800 but better than the radius. (same style, but rigid handles as opposed to plastic). It's a good all around EDC.

If you want a belt pouch you can use you'll need a sturdy leather one, the belt loops have ripped off of all of the factory pouches, and I hardly used them.

I also have several no-name brands that I acquired over the years and I can not recommend any of them.

I have a Gerber 600 that i keep in my BOB, had it for about 6 years, nothing has broken on it yet. Also carry a Gerber 400 at work with me, had it about 3 years now, compact and has handled the mild tasks it takes on.

I have the Leatherman Wave brand new less than a month old and loved it so much that I found the Leatherman MUT and got that as well. For any wanting to check it out

If you like the wave let me know I might be selling mine due to the fact my wife gave me the "eye" when I brought home the MUT.

I have a few of the little Gerbers - Crucial, Vise, clipped to range bags, etc. OK for occasional use. Never really found a need for carrying a full size for myself.

Just got the Leatherman Charge ALX for my son. Seemed pretty nice, the main reason we got it was it's sans the silly scissors. He's pretty happy with it so far.

I have a couple of Leathermans, and both have been broken by abuse, and both repaired under their warranty. Only cost me postage to send it. Can't beat that.
My T.P. wheeling and dealing feedback is here.
