The owner told me he had just opened and that most of the guns were priced with Blue Book publications. Since most of it was privately owned guns he had more room to deal buy hadn't had a chance to correct any prices to go with the market. He also showed me that the Wasr 10 on gun broker and action arms are all going for 7 a $800 so why not price match when you can't get them from Century right now. Instead of making such a uneducated and rash desicion especially on a new fun shop I mean gun shop give the guy a chance. He gives a 10% LEO and Militaru discount. Who else does that even on ammo. I'm going to visit again just to see if he gets his pricing straightened out. Clean, well lit and friendly.

Well I went into Bear Arms the day after stopping in Liberty Arms and there exact model saiga 223 was $400. Thats what I saw. Whether prices went up after I left I don't know.

keep in mind that there is a couple of different models of Saigas. There is your standard saiga and then there is a "partially" converted saiga with the correct gas block front sight base and AKM pattern handgaurds that cost more. That might have been the gun you got a price on.

The guy was still wanting $800 for a Wasr10 and $1000 for a SKS. Thats crazy..

    Default Thanks for the help!

I am an avid gun nut and appreciate the helpful feedback. This new shop is very close to my house so maybe I will do the neighborly thing and possibly give him some useful info on other gun businesses he is pricing against. I want to see them suceed not only for my personal reasons but for everyone that enjoys guns! With any new business there are some grown pains. Hopefully he will get his pricing to be a little more inline. I did however enjoy 10% off everything in the store when I was in for Fathers Day on Saturday!!! Got 9mm federal box of 50 for $9.00 and .40 LE bonded Winchester for &17.99. Thanks for all your help and hopefully you will give them another chance, I will.

Stopped in today and was impressed with the space and location. I think this shop has potential.

    The BAD:

I didn't buy anything because the prices were steep compared to other local shops. On this trip I was looking for one of the new take down 10/22s and 5.45 x 39 ammo. The 10/22 was $75 more at USA than another local shop. The ammo (on order) was $90 more for a tin of 1080rnds than the same tin I ended up buying at another shop.

    The Good:

There were a lot of unique pieces that might interest someone looking for a particular collector piece.

Good selection. A lot more black rifles and pistols on order.

    $10 transfers

Todd, the guy I talked to, was very helpful, knowledgeable, and eager to sell me something but not pushy.

Conclusion: If these guys can compete on price this could be another great shop. I'm going to give them some time before I make a final judgement.

Went back to Bear Arms. Confirmed that a unconverted Saiga .223 is $399

If nothing else, $10 transfers is the cheapest I've heard of.

Stopped in other day. It's clean and bright which is nice, and a couple more interesting things like those bipod hunting rifle pistol things. I'd say light on the handgun selection at least in full size modern stuff, plenty of .22 and pocket pistols.

Prices... think I saw some Blazer etc for decent price, everything else wow.

Biggest thing I hated was hearing I think it was Todd blowing so much smoke up a poor noob's ass. Everything from ridiculous statements about armor piercing ammo and quoting ridiculous prices as the standard so his price doesnt seem so ludicris by comparison. Acting like a Saiga 16inch .308 is an accurate with irons 400+ yard gun. (the same ones selling at double msrp.)

Basically gave me a American Guns/Son of Guns type vibe. I think they may stick around if the lease isn't too bad from buffalo'ing city gun noobs.

I stopped in a few weeks back, my wife and my self got a good laugh at there prices. All hand guns were 100$-200$ dollars more than Jensens. Like said before there EBR section was a joke price wise nice selection. There was a guy when we were in there buying one of thoes 600$ saigas and raveing about how good of a deal he was getting it was hard to keep my mouth shut. The prices on ammo I was looking at even with a 10% discount were WAY over priced. With all that being said I always try to buy local even for more money to support our local shops. I will go back in some time soon and see if they have come down to reasonable prices.

I was in their shop to pick up a gun I had shipped, using their FFL. Holy Crap they are over priced. Springfield XDs 45, sells at most local shops for $525, they are asking $649. This is a full retail shop. I thought about buying ammo, but it gave me the feeling i was buying ammo in CA, where they don't use lube. stay away.
