I'd like to more about corrosive ammunition

Hi, I have surplus ammo and I'm going to shoot it.
But I do know they have corrosive powder and Hi, I have surplus ammo and I'm going to shoot it.
But I do know they have corrosive powder and mercury in the primer.

Whant I'd like to know if there is a product that will not only dilute the
corrosive residue left behind after shooting it. I want a product that will completly neutralize the residue left behind.

I've heard petroleium solvents will not neutralize it.
windex and soap and water will clean the barrel.
But it will leave a waterd down film that will still rust, frost and pit your barrel. When left for a long period of time.

I,d like to ask fellow gun community. Is there a cleaner available
that will clean the corrosive film and not ruin my gun at the same time?

Take the bottle of windex with You. Spray it down when Your done, Then clean it normally when You get home. It'll nutralize all the bad stuff on the way home. That's the way I do it.

One thing to remember about corrosive ammo is that it is the reaction with the salts and moisture that causes the damage.

Colorado has to be the most "corrosive ammo friendly" state you could live in. No moisture=no reaction. I shoot corrosive ammo and I do clean my guns but I am not in any big hurry. I have let guns sit a week or more and not seen any hint of a reaction starting.

The main thing as far as I am concerned is that when you do clean your guns that you clean everything and get them good and dry after. In my case it is getting the gas system clean.
