Thanks Hunter,

You can't go wrong with the .300. Only thing that surpasses it in .30 is the .30-378, and that IS expensive! I love the hell out of the round.

The 240's I plan on shooting aren't going to shoot "flat", I'm looking to minimize wind "dope" with their .702 BC. I am pretty accurate on drop, but wind kicks my arse, so I figured I will get as efficent as I can. And the .240 will stay supersonic further than that of other .30 bullet weights, so if I REALLY want to push my luck, I can try over 1000 and still have good energy.

I won't compete against anyone but myself, and there are some great shots out there! I would have to win the lottery and quit my job to compete with those guys! If I can consistently hit an 11" gong at 1000, I'll be happy. Hopefully, this rig will let me achieve that.

Before I had it rebarreled, I was thinking about on hunting with it also, so I practised with 180 Accubonds, and I could group 1" @ 200 yds with Retumbo. I couldn't swallow $40+ a box for Scirrocos! (call me cheap!). I'll stick with my 7RM for hunting; little cheaper on the wallet, little lighter rifle, and just as effective out to 500 yds +.

If I get really good like the guy's on longrangehunting.com (probably won't happen), I might try the .300 for a long shot.
