    Default New to IDPA

I'm hoping to shoot in my first IDPA match at CCSC on March 10.

As I understand it, I need to do a couple of things before I can take part in the match: I have to take a Match Safety Course and go through a "Safety Check COF"

Can anyone tell me who I can contact to find out how to get these done?? Do they run these on the day of a match to accomodate new comers??

Thanks in advance for any help or contact info.

From the IDPA FAQ above http://coloradoshooting.org/ipw-web/...pic.php?t=3983

We offer the New to IDPA Safety Classes before every IDPA match.

The hands on part of the class is shooting the actual match. As long as you dont do anything unsafe, we give you the blessing to shoot any IDPA or IPSC match in the state.

    Contact me for more details.

Thanks Tom - that's a great way to welcome a new shooter.

We try to make it as easy as we can.

Like I say, the hardest part is actually showing up. After that, its easy.

p.s. Dont I know you from the Olympic Training Center?

Thanks, I appreciate the welcome. I just ordered an XD45 and extra mags and mag pouches which ought to arrive this Saturday. I should have just enough time to take it for a few spins around the block before the match.

Can anyone tell me if there's a BUG or other side match scheduled??? What else should I bring besides the XD??

Am looking forward to doing something besides bullseye shooting.

If we are a USPSA member but not classified yet do we still need the IDPA safety check?

March is BUG month. The side match schedule and additional ifo is also posted a couple threads above this one. http://coloradoshooting.org/ipw-web/...pic.php?t=3953

Its not mandatory, but it is very highly/strongly recommended.

Compared, IDPA has a few quirks that most USPSA/IPSC shooters could use a briefing on. Most everyone that teaches our IDPA Safety Classes also shoots USPSA.
