As I'm sure others may have questions, here's the short and long of it:

It's not my gig. It's run by a friend of mine, RW Swainson, a retired police officer with over 28 years experience both in Canada and the US. I've known Bob for about 6 years, and have had the "pleasure" of working with him before he retired from LE a couple of years back. Now he teaches firearm courses including CCW. He's as techincal and tactical as they come, and is always happy to answer your questions or show you how to do something new. His main concern is that we don't get any "mall ninjas" out there who might put the rest of us in danger with unsafe range etiquette.

I don't get anything for referring people there. I do it as a favor to Bob and to forum members. That being said, if you are a responsible shooter and would like to go, that's fine, but you need to go with me or someone else who can introduce you to Bob for the first time. After that, along as he feels you're safe, you can contact him on your own for future sessions.

As far as the range, it's unlike anything you've ever seen in most public ranges. There are stations for pistols, shotguns, rifles, and even a small live fire "shoot house" set up. Mostly steel targets, but target frames are available for zeroing, etc. Handgun distances vary, with rifle steel from about 160 yards, out to about 300 yards. Mid afternoon, Bob takes anyone interested on one of his famous "walk abouts" where you will get the chance to learn or practice valuable tactical skills. It's the closest thing to going on an actual "patrol" that most non-military or LE will ever get to do.

Semi auto fire only, no bump fire, no tracers, no steel piercing ammo or large calibers. SBRs and cans welcome. Double taps, weapon transitions, drawing from holsters, etc. allowed if you know what the hell you're doing and check with Bob first.

Location is Bennett on private property. It is NOT open to the general public. Cost is $10 an hour. Stay as long or as short as you like. Opens around 0800 and runs till it gets dark. Brownie points if you can help Bob with a little set up in the AM and break down in the PM. Porta Potty on scene, but that's it. No electricity and no running water. First timers MUST meet Bob and sign a waiver. Gravel road to get there, and gravel/dirt on scene. Front wheel drives are fine most of the time, but keep that in mind. Once the range is hot, there will be several stations all going at once, so responsible adults only, no criminals, wanna be's, posers, or yahoos allowed!

PM me for additional details. If you have a number that I can text you at, please include that so its easier for me to respond. With so little metro ranges and many mountain ones closing down, this is truly a gem in the metro area. Attendance is limited for safety, so there is a cut off on how many can attend.
