Good link Out Rider, This clears up a question from Mista Bukit the other day. Jim asked... if your buying a gun from someone on the board or just a private sale for that matter, Do you need to register it or anything like that and is there a background check required? The answer on StateGunLaws.org goes like this.....REGISTRATION
Are all guns registered with law enforcement? No

Colorado - No state requirement that gun owners register their firearms. Police do not know how many guns are in the state or where they are. The lack of registration data makes it more difficult for police to trace guns used in crime, identify illegal gun traffickers or hold gun owners accountable for their weapons. There is no state system to identify and disarm felons who bought guns legally in the past but later committed a crime or otherwise became ineligible to possess their firearms. Also see: Record Keeping. ........... SECONDARY SALES
Are background checks required on 'private' gun sales? Partial

Colorado - No state requirement that criminal background checks be done on people buying firearms through newspaper, internet or other advertisements or "on the street." Criminal background checks are only required if the buyer goes to a federally-licensed gun store or purchases a firearm at a recognized gun show. Aside from gun shows, all "private" sales between individuals are not subject to the background check. Also see: Gun Shows.

    Thanks Larry,
:?: Did you see any thing about where to check the serial numbers to be sure it has not been stolen or used in a crime and what your liability would be if you recived if you such a weapon?

IMO. take that for what it is worth but I understand that not knowing that a firearm is stolen is not a good defense. I always call the local S.O. on the none emergency line and have the serial number run by the dispatcher.
