    believe it or not
bass pro shops is usually cheaper than even wal mart on fishing gear (and fishing stuff alone)

the best deal is to cruise craigslist.
lots of people selling their fishing gear.

i got an entire car load of stuff once. 20+ rods and reels, boxes and boxes of bait, lures, swivels, etc, etc, etc (I mean LOTS), waders, books, etc for $300

    yes, best deal ever.

If you have the time, I like to read the reviews of products on Amazon before buying.

Yeap, Amazon is the only place where you can find honest reviews these days, IMO.

Actually, I'd suggest visiting web forums dedicated to fishing as the enthusiasts on such sites are generally far more into it than those that post on Amazon or such places.

Each type of fishing has it's own sites so seek out the ones appropriate for the type of fishing you do, whether it be soaking bait, dragging lures, or throwing chicken feathers.

Believe it or not.....MILE HIGH FLEA MARKET. There are a couple of guys who are always out there and they are selling gear for 1/2 of what you would find it for at Sportsman's Warehouse.

That's an awesome idea except for the fact you have to goto the flea market...
